In 2019, Elena Marchetti — a London-based architect with Italian roots — snapped a heel rushing between a client meeting in Mayfair and her daughter's school play in Hackney. Standing barefoot on the pavement, she thought: "Why do we still accept that heels and comfort can't coexist?"
She spent the next three years in her Shoreditch studio, obsessively sketching, prototyping and testing. Working with master artisans in Florence, Italy, and aerospace engineers in Milan, Elena developed a patented folding mechanism from precision-grade aluminium — the same alloy used in aircraft landing gear.
